Swenglish

A fairly random combination of English and Swedish used in common conversation between Marie and Patrick. It also includes some "inside" jokes and references. It might be helpful to learn some before reading too much!

There is much more to add, so our apologies if we missed something!

By the way, just because we call it Swenglish doesn't mean there isn't a mix of Cantonese, Spanish, Thai, or just jibberish mixed in.

Curse You, Aqua Scum

Foiled by in their escape plan by the Aqua-Scum 2000 cleaning system,the aquarium fish of Finding Nemo lash out.

Dumfries

A town south of Washington DC that should be pronounced Dumb-Freeze, but we go prefer Dumb-Fries (as in "you want fries with that?"). People that aren't so bright. This is also a Mom-Safe term for Fuggers.

Farang

Thai for a westerner. Not as bad as the Cantonese Gwai Lo, or White Devil.

Fish are Friends, Not Food

Words to live by! Finding Nemo reference to the motto of the non fish-eating sharks. By the way, the sharks do eat Flipping Dolphins!

Flipping Dolphins

Reference to the scene in Finding Nemo in the Sharks Anonymous. Generally used to mean fancy or cute. See also Fish are Friends, Not Food!

Fuggers

Do I really have to spell it out for you? They are the people that cut you off in traffic, and think that Fox News is unbiased.

Gosejon

"goose-eey-yoon" - They prefer to not be called "stuffed animals." Plural is Gosedjor

Hangenmatten

Swedish for Hammock. Cool word.

Jöns Jonar

That's us- people with our own special way. A less friendly way to describe it would be dunces or nerds, See also Dumfries (but not in a "fuggers" kind of way.

Move-It, Move-It

Reference to the movie Madagasgar and the dancing lemurs. Originally an 80's disco song, re-mixed and modified for the movie. Full refrain is something like "I like to move-it, move it/ I like to move-it, move-it! Move it!" See also Physically-Fit, Physically Fit.

Now What?

Finding Nemo reference - the fish from the acquarium escape in their water-filled bags as the Dentist cleans the tanks, out the window, across the road, and into the Big Blue. Now What? (How do we get out of these bags?)

San Francisco, Duh! It's from a silly joke I heard when I was about 12, about two angels that left their harps in Sam Clam's Disco on a drunken night down on Earth.

The Sweedish language term for Swenglish

TchaTchaTchaTcha

Equal Time rules require that if we give credit to Colby for Whereisit then we must also give credit to Josefine for TchaTchaTchaTcha. Josefine can't say a whole lot of words yet (or, at least when we were there in August), so this is her demanding, frustrated term. Loosely translated, it means "I want more attention."

Tjo o Tjim

Pronounced shoey-shim - Kind of a cross between "Party party" and just plain "fun." See also tjootjim.com. Can also refer to business class on a plane - tjo o tjim class. (First class is flipping dolphin class.)

Wherrissit

This is one of those colbyisms that just makes you melt. The term cannot be used properly without pointing both palms up in front of yourself in bewilderment.
